This is an article I wrote a few weeks ago. But after a Maoist leader held for the July 8 attack on a Congress leader's house was found to have 'links' with a host of 'intellectuals', including Arundhati Roy and Medha Patkar, here it is again:

Both Arundhiti and Patekar are running after noble prize. Those who praise India and its democracy do not get prize in western countries. But Indian democracy is open and powerfull, it can easily show these crooks their place.
Great article..These professional activists and agitationists should be exposed. The problem is there are many pseudo-Intellectuals who are getting 'affected' by arundhuti syndrome..
Aschouhan, I hope you're right.
Thank you, Manas. Yes, sadly, the 'activist' and 'intellectual' labels have been rather poorly appropriated, if that's the expression I'm looking for.
Vivid article. You could have left out the bit about "LTTE" just for the reason it'd evoke feisty responses from someone who has strong emotional opinions.Might take the focus away from the article itself. Not a criticism, its what I felt. But hey, you're the journalist so you should know better than me.
A.Roy is a self appointed torch bearer for causes she feels justified. It has been fashionable and passes for being "intellectual" when somebody goes against the general belief and A.Roy certainly belongs to that school. She has made it easy for me to take sides about issues I'm ignorant about. All I have to do is take the side opposite to which she is on and I'll be safe(except for the Iraq war). The article is well carved out.Nice one.
Thanks, Arun. And who says journalists know anything? Why do you think we ask the questions instead of coming up with the answers? :-)
Badly-written, reeks of bias. Sorry, we do need more of her and less of your types.
@ 21speed
Before I respond,Can you please care to brief what "types" they both are?
