Fiesta at Last: A Spanish Fan's Diary

These headlines popped into my head at various times yesterday:

Jesus wins the World Cup

Oranjes beaten to pulp

A double for the Armada

The night ended with my welling up nearly as much as Iker Casillas. Here are my thoughts on La Furia Roja:

Germany :(
It just saddens me that they have, almost doggedly, managed to come 3rd. ALMOST DOGGEDLY!
I watch only the Football World Cup, and yet, the sport continues to disappoint me! :(
Never mind, I think Spain deserved to win. They were playing some killer football

Germany? You were supporting them?

Good stuff. I hope some long-suffering Dutch fan will be able to do a similar piece four years from now :)

Spain deserved no less, there was almost a sense of destiny in their golden generation winning the cup..

:-) Yeah, the Dutch have had some good teams that have failed to deliver. I want Argentina to win next time round, and I could grow greedy after that, so I won't echo your sentiments about who should win, Suhas.

Having lost a bottle of scotch,a couple of dinner treats and various other bets I certainly am unable to share or appreciate the enthusiasm of the Spanish fans!
